BIOGRAPHIES
Dr. David Booth is a renowned educator and professor emeritus in the Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Department at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, Canada. As a classroom teacher, consultant, speaker, and writer he has delighted thousands with his energy, enthusiasm, and commitment. He is well known as an international speaker, having worked with teachers and administrators throughout Canada, the United States, Great Britain, Australia, and Asia.
Jack Booth has been involved in the educational community for over 30 years. He has taught elementary grades, served as a resource teacher for grades 7–10, and was an English/Language Arts consultant for grades K–12. Recently, Jack has been an educational development author/consultant for publishers in Canada and China. For many years, Jack has been writing materials for students and teachers. He was a senior author of the Impressions Program; consultant/author for the MeadowBooks series for Harcourt Canada; co-author of Harcourt’s Word Sense series; and co-author and editor-in-chief of The Out Loud Program: Rhymes, Rhythms and Patterns for Language Learning. Jack has presented lectures, workshops, and seminars across North America, the United Kingdom, and Asia.
Kathleen Gould Lundy is currently Coordinator of Destination Arts at York University, a joint venture of the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Fine Arts, which undertakes to foster partnerships among artists, educators, and the community. She has been an arts and literacy teacher, consultant, and coordinator for over 30 years and is a popular motivational speaker at conferences in Canada and the United States. Kathleen’s work with teachers has always focused on helping them understand and advocate for the crucial role that the arts and the imagination play in every student’s education. Kathleen is the author of professional development books for teachers, as well as books and graphic novels for struggling readers.
Joan Green has had a distinguished career as an educator, policy advisor, and leader in the public sector. She was the first female Director of Education of the Board of Education for the City of Toronto and, prior to that, served as a teacher, principal, and superintendent. Joan is the founding CEO of the Ontario Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) and is a co-author and senior member of the editorial board of several award-winning language and literacy series.
Dr. Larry Swartz is an instructor in literacy as well as dramatic arts at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. He has been an educator for over thirty years and is well-known for his use of children’s literature to help young people grow as readers, writers, and citizens of the world. Larry has been involved with anti-bullying education in several capacities. He is the editor of the university Journal, Orbit, which features articles connected to ‘The Bully Issue,’ As a classroom teacher, consultant, author, and speaker, Larry has shared his enthusiasm and expertise with teachers, administrators, teacher-librarians, and parents throughout Canada, the United States, and Asia.
